Dragon Superfoods cassava flour is an organic starch obtained from the roots of the cassava plant, also called jute or cassava. The plant originates from tropical countries and has been among the most widely used to feed its inhabitants due to the rich carbohydrate and fiber content of its roots.
The plant produces two different products – starch (tapioca) and cassava flour. Starch is a by-product of flour production. Cassava flour is gluten-free and is a perfect substitute for wheat flour in baking recipes in a 1:1 ratio.
With a mild, slightly sweet flavor, very similar to wheat, cassava/manioc flour can be used for breading, baking, and cooking. It has a mild flavor and fluffy texture. It is also known for its thickening properties and replaces cornstarch in soups and sauces – just add a few spoonfuls.
