DESCRIPTION
Seitan, also known as “Chinese meat”, is a high-protein vegan product made from wheat gluten. It is mainly used as a meat substitute.
METHOD OF PREPARATION
1) Pour a glass of water (about 125 ml) into the bowl and pour all the seitan powder from the bag. Stir (preferably with a fork) so that no lumps are formed until the dough has absorbed all the water.
2) Boil 1.5 liters of water in a medium sized pot, add a pinch of salt and 3-4 tablespoons of soy sauce. The finished dough is divided and cut into pieces about the size of a walnut, each piece is lightly flattened with your hand.
3) Put it into boiling water and cook, covered, over low heat for about 30 minutes.
